A clocking is the start of a process
Collecting an event does not automatically make it a payroll-ready record. A useful attendance workflow connects clocking data to the correct employee, shift, exceptions and approvals. Start by following a sample working day through the full process.
Make exceptions visible
- Missing clock-in or clock-out
- Overnight shifts crossing calendar dates
- Duplicate events or a device interruption
- Approved schedule changes
- Breaks and overtime that need review
Assign ownership
Decide who investigates an exception, who can correct it and who approves the final record. Keep the original clocking evidence alongside the correction reason. The payroll administrator should confirm the export requirements and calculation rules with the relevant business owners.
Test a representative period
Use anonymised examples of ordinary shifts and exceptions to validate the handover. Compare outputs with the organisation’s agreed policies before payroll relies on the export. This guide is about workflow design; your organisation remains responsible for its employment and payroll rules.
A practical next step
Prepare a short list of shifts, devices, payroll software and current problems. Neuromac can use it to scope clocking, reporting and a suitable integration or export process.
